The Avoidant Masterpiece

I cast this self-portrait in concrete—my own torso, arms, and hands, mounted on the wall, holding out a cheap picture frame toward the viewer. The head is missing entirely, deliberately absent, leaving a figure that gestures for attention while having no face to offer it, no way to meet your gaze even as it asks for yours. That tension between the frame's invitation and the figure's facelessness is the whole piece: it's an awkward, exposing self-study of my own avoidant patterns in intimacy, the way I've learned to survive closeness by masterfully disconnecting myself from authenticity, present in the room but not fully there.
